Rory Ziv is a well-qualified and highly experienced criminal lawyer. He was born and raised in Cape Town, a beautiful city at the southern tip of Africa, in a country divided along racial and social lines. Through observing conflict between people and their government, he grew to realise that he wanted to fight for fairness, truth and justice. With him, it’s personal!
While she has worked alongside Mr. Ziv since 2007, Sharline received training and hands-on experience as a judicial clerk for the Provincial Court of Alberta in 2012. In addition to being Mr. Ziv’s assistant, Sharline provides support & guidance to the Ziv Law team of lawyers, students and assistants.
Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta faculty of law in 2013. He articled with Rory Ziv with a focus on criminal law and crossed the bar in 2014. Matthew practiced Family Law from 2015-2021, but has returned to the Ziv Law Group to focus on Criminal Law again.
Brett graduated from the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law in 2025. He is currently articling under Rory Ziv while focusing on criminal law. Before studying law, Brett obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Philosophy from Brandon University.
Yago Medeiros is an internationally trained criminal defence lawyer with over six years of experience in Brazil. Articling in Canada under Matthew Pagels’ supervision, he brings valuable insight from work with Alberta Crown Prosecution Services and the Alberta Court of Justice. Yago focuses on clear, thorough client communication and anticipating legal issues before they arise.
