Matthew is a seasoned and well-rounded lawyer with a passion for criminal law and issues of justice. Matthew resides in Edmonton, Alberta with his loving wife and four children.
Matthew believes that a good lawyer is reasonably accessible and takes time to explain the law and issues to their clients candidly. Each and every case has unique facts and solutions, because each person is different. When it comes to criminal law advocacy, accepting resolution or committing one’s self to trial can be incredibly stressful, and so Matthew is committed to being patient and making these tough calls together. Regardless of what your your instruction is, you will have a fierce advocate.
Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta faculty of law in 2013. He articled with Rory Ziv with a focus on criminal law and crossed the bar in 2014. Matthew practiced Family Law from 2015-2021, but has returned to the Ziv Law Group to focus on Criminal Law again. He has a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Drama, with honors, from Augustana University. Before starting his legal career, he was a personal care aide for the elderly and permanently disabled, and he taught English as a second language with his wife in South Korea for two years. When he’s not working, Matthew likes to spend time with his family, paint, and fuss over his aquariums.
